It is a curse
to be the second son
and not a blast
to be the last
but maybe it’s worst
to be the first.
To be a dad
is the greatest burn,
or a blessing-
puffing up
almost to burst-
depending on the day
and the turn
of the earth
or the pain
or the pleasure
of the child
whether second
or third
or first.
